Every park has its shark and Quilchena has Mark..

He's that guy that lives at the park and acts like he owns the place. Knows every nook and cranny. Only fitting that we put him on the team right??  Oh, and he like strwberry ice cream.

Here's some footy of our guy ripping it up with Neltron.  Pics here

Meet the Team #2 - The search is over!

kevin | 21 March, 2009 13:50

Ask 10 different people and you might get 10 opinions on the role of a "shop sponsor".  The way I see it, a shop is here to support skateboarders of all ages and skill levels. Its not all about who's hot this second and who can I put on my team to make the shop look cooler.

So with that I introduce our elder "skatesman" -  Wee Wong. The guys been skating since the early 70's!  By all accounts he was a badass little ripper from East Van that would shred harder than most. Well, he still rips and after seeing a video of him skating Bonsor in the snow I felt like the guy deserved a spot on the team.

BLVD Brigade - Vets Division

"started skating at about 9 years old in east vancouver in and around 72 or 73 with a cal 240 like most kids in that era. still remember being so happy of not falling off for about 20 feet. we did all the high and long jumps, pineapple flips, slalom and all those olds school things of the 70's. the skateboarder magazine is what we used to subscribe to and tried to duplicate the tricks by alva, peralta and all those dudes.

we used to skate granville bank, west van bowl was the first taste of bowl riding, then came seylynn, china creek, skateboard palace and the nelson halfpipe. not sure of the exact order of the last 3 mentioned.

then came about 1980 and stopped skating all of a sudden when everything died down till 2003 when i discovered hastings bowl. all of a sudden just had to get back on and wanted to ride that dam thing. anyhow, that's just a quick snap shot of what happened"

Firsties

Your first "real" skateboard is something that you always remember. I've had a gajillion in the last 20+ years, but I can tell you that my first was an Alva Eddie Reatigue with Gullwing trucks and Rat Bones wheels.

One of the sickest things for me at the shop is helping kids pick out their first board. Yesterday was a bright eyed kid named Dawson who according to his dad "worked really hard and got a good report card".  Today was 10 yr old Devin. Its his birthday so he got a board and some new sneaks too. Thought I'd snap a picture to commerate this moment. Shred the rad young ones!!
